Hello to you!
I have wrapped the presents and made the brownies in lieu of cake for Sam's 17th birthday tomorrow. I shan't wake him. I've been instructed not to. Instead we will go out on our planned day trip, and on our return will begin the festivities. There are to be no banners or balloons. No reminiscing on times long gone. We are going into town and having fish and chips for tea, and ice creams for pudding. Possibly we will venture into the arcade for some scheduled fun. Teens are funny creatures.
This week I have been out and about a lot. I've been snap snapping away with my new bells and whistles phone. At this exact moment I am trying to download something or other onto my computer that will allow me to upload my photos for you to see. Thank goodness I took a few on my camera.
Some happy things from my week. Linking up with Gillian.
Wooded Nightshade. Spotted while walking the North Cliffs. There is an abundance of wild flowers around at the moment, and I have found some beauties. Field Scabious, Kidney Vetch, Moon Daisies to name but a few. Many of them are small, and you have to get down on the ground to appreciate them. They are exquisitely beautiful. Every one of them.
Apart from the little buggers that have laid waste to my Gooseberry bushes, Olly and I are enjoying the different types of caterpillar that we are finding. Look at his (blurry) face. I'm still chuckling.
He wasn't in any real danger, honestly. There have been lots of views and vistas this week. Stuff to stop you dead in your tracks. There's something about climbing a hill, or walking up to a cliff edge and just taking it all in. The scenery, the colours, the space.
My final happy is that my Mum is down for the weekend. We spent a lovely day yesterday trawling charity and vintage shops in Hayle. I bought some books for Pops, three butter knives (the ones with the white handles), a rather fabulous plate and some plants. We had coffee. We had lunch. She did all of my ironing. I love it when Mum is here.
If you haven't already done so, please hop along to my giveaway.
Leanne xx
ooo look at the view at the end.....shame olly's curls trump it! xxxx
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to Sam! His birthday outing sounds very nice. I love that photo of Olly, he should be a hair model. I've had my new phone over a month and I'm still not really sure how to take photos off it. Not that I take many with it, I usually forget I have the capability and I drag my camera along instead. Have a wonderful time with your mum. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm incredibly impressed with your knowledge of wildflowers and, as ever, terribly envious of your views! Enjoy the fish and chips with the Birthday Boy. x
ReplyDeleteWonderful happies. Love Olly's hair it really suits the wild windiness of the view and laughing at the big hand - you can look but you go no further boy! Those caterpillars are actually a bit scary. If your Mum ever fancies a holiday in Scotland she, and her iron, are most welcome anytime...lol!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday to Sam, I hope he had a lovely day. It sounds wonderful having your mum to stay, I could do with a day like that, I really could! The caterpillar made me smile as well, I think he's looking at you. I hope you have a lovely week with the boys. No doubt St Ives has been invaded by holiday makers by now. I was looking at an aerial shot of the place the other day, and it was so nice to see a few familiar landmarks. Have a good Sunday Leanne, CJ xx
ReplyDeleteWhen L was about 2 we were walking up the cliffs on the Jurassic Coast, a huge and sudden gust of wind blew and he very nearly went up like a kite- thank God I had my hand on his arm, much as you've got yours on Pop's :-) Hope Sam enjoyed his birthday- they whizz up so fast don't they? J has just passed her driving test and is in the middle of A Levels- where did that time to go? Have a great Bank Hol x
ReplyDeleteAhhhh the teenage birthday - so different! I get quite grumpy, you sound much nicer. I am jealous of your sea side walks I do miss the sea x
ReplyDeleteHope Sam had a good birthday. The caterpillar photo did make me smile :) Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Sam! That caterpillar is hilarious! It looks like it has a pig's snout! I have to confess the picture of Olly by the cliff made me feel a bit queasy. I realize he wasn't in any danger, but I'm not great with heights and still have some residual damage from walking those Welsh cliffs in gale force winds last September. :-)
ReplyDeleteHope your son had a lovely birthday Leanne. Love that caterpillar face! I'm having trouble with slugs and snails decimating my plants, havent seen any caterpillars yet, though I'm sure they are there somewhere.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Sam!! I hope that the teenage birthday went all according to his very precise plan! Lovely to have your Mum visiting and that she did the ironing, that is such a treat isn't it. Hope that your weekend is going well and that you are enjoying bank holiday Monday! xx
ReplyDeleteMany happy returns to your lovely eldest boy, I hope he had a fab time. I'm sure he did. My mum always does my ironing too. I tell her not to but she ignores me and does it anyway. x
ReplyDeleteI hope Sam's Birthday was just as he wanted it to be, fish and chips and ice cream sound all great to me and I might drop some hints for my Sam's Birthday! I might also tell me mum that some ladies I know have mums who do their ironing... Have a great week Leanne! Christina xx
ReplyDeletefish and chips and brownies sound like a perfect birthday celebration, hope it was a good one x
ReplyDeleteIsn't it lovely when Mum comes, it feels like you can just relax and be young again, well for a minute anyway. Unfortunately I can't see the majority of your images as my computer is on its last legs, one of the many reasons (definitely the main) for not being up with blogging of late. In fact I am THIS close to throwing it across the road into the field and then running over and jumping on it until it is completely gone (I think I might need a little help). Honestly I find it so infuriating when technology doesn't work, but anyway coming back to your lovely happies, I hope the rest of your week continues in the same vein and that those brownies were the bizz!! Sending you much love xoxo
