Time and again this month I have sat down to write, and haven't found the words. Trying too hard maybe? Not enough to say? I have three unfinished posts sat in drafts, waiting for some kind of inspiration. It's all been very frustrating. Does this ever happen to you? Most of the time I don't allow myself too much dallying at the keyboard. I find I enjoy the spontaneity of writing here. There's so little of that in my day to day life, wrapped up as I am with chores, to do lists and routine.

I am halfway through a garden/plot number ten post. I even promised CJ, who kindly asks after it every now and again, that the post was in the bag. I'm sure she's starting to wonder whether there is a plot at all ;) I have a lovely walk to share with you, and some fabulous shots of lichen, my new passion. Again they are sitting mournfully in drafts, waiting for me to collect my thoughts. I have news of burgeoning friendships with lovely new people, new (to me) bits and bobs to show you, family tales and laughter around the dinner table with Liz, Mel and Emma.

It's fair to say that I am a little distracted at present.

But a thank you is very overdue. I was overwhelmed by your response to my post about Olly. It would be a huge understatement to say that every one helped me enormously. Marc and I made the decision that he could only benefit from some extra input, and although it's early days it does seem to be paying off. I was in Bristol this weekend, and so missed his proud little face on Friday when he was made star of the week. He's been angling for this accolade since his first day at school. Olly has always been a sucker for a sticker!

I stayed with Dad while I was away. For reasons I won't bore you with now, I have a very complicated internal relationship with him. Oh I love him dearly, and enjoyed the quality time that we had together. But for the first time in many years, I felt that those bonds that used to hold father and daughter so tightly were gathering strength once more. It was a good feeling. It made us both happy I think.

I hope to catch up with all of you this week. And hope too that normal service here will be resumed soon.

Love and stuff,

Leanne xx

  2. Hello you. I missed you. I hope you're ok - you and your Dad have been in my thoughts. Can I just say that your home is gorgeous (the Woolf print above the sofa! the stripped doors! the barometers!) and that I have scrutinised that photo for some time. I'm really glad Olly seems more settled. Take care. xx

  3. Wonderful post!!! Love your photos so much and your thoughts shared. I know just what you mean about post-poning posting. I love too just sitting and writing and finding out what in the world it IS that I've been thinking, what story needed to be told, but sometimes I feel like there is a cork in the bottle. I almost feel an internal pressure build....look out.....stories might fly out all in bits and pieces. I have wandered past the computer room, wistfully looking in the doorway as though waiting for a love to call. Life just gets too big sometimes and we feel too much. I think that is partly what it is. Those stories will still be there for you to tell us when the time is ripe.

  4. How lovely to find a post from you, I'm glad to read your news. Hopefully you will find the words to tell us all about the things you mention. You know how I'm looking forward to seeing your allotment, and I love the idea of lichens as well. I'm in agreement with Gillian, your home is gorgeous. And how lovely to see that Star of the Week sticker on your sweet little man. My littlest boy is desperate to be awarded Billy Beaver (a soft toy) at beavers. It's given out every week to a well behaved beaver. The littlest boy hasn't had a sniff of it yet, but he does try so hard to be good. Soon, soon. He will be absolutely beside himself when his time comes. I hope you have a good week Leanne. CJ xx

  14. Wow well done to Olly for getting his fantastic star! Your images are beautiful, that topiary is such fun! When my mother in law was ill it made us much closer and that closeness remained for the many years that followed. Sarah x

  15. What a lovely post Leanne. And gorgeous photos too. I shouldn't worry about the lack of posting. All in good time! And you have more reason than most to be distracted at the moment. Well done to Olly for receiving his star award. My littlest received worker of the week for the first time last week and was bursting with pride. Wishing you a lovely weekend. Bee xx
