Happy

Hey lovelies.

My last post of the week, is inspired by the marvellous Gillian, who missed her weekly happy post. I miss mine too. So I'm jumping on the happy band wagon.

We have been blessed with the most wonderful weather in St Ives this week. I've said before that May is my favourite month. one reason is that the beaches are still empty. Pops and I have been to the Harbour beach and Porthmeor this week. We played in the sea, inspected rock pools, made sand castles, looked for sea glass and ate our lunch on a beach towel. The sand here is white and clean. The sea is turquoise. My legs are lily white (hence the jeans). But my face is brown and freckly.

This is a corner of the garden that I shall be looking after. I am being paid! I am quite nervous, because I want to do my best and not destroy what is already there. But I am also really excited by it. It is a small courtyard garden, and I am to look after it, tend it and grow things in it. I am on cloud nine!

Some radishes from the garden. I shall be picking salad leaves later. We are having a barbecue this evening. The whole of West Cornwall is too, apparently. We are planning another one on the beach tomorrow. Olly wants to go surfing. I am buying a wetsuit, and taking the plunge with him.

I want to share this book with you. Beautifully written. Gorgeous photography. Inspiring for a person like me who has battled with depression over the years.

Some of the broken pottery that I have been collecting while searching the beaches for treasure. I only pick up bits that have blue on them. I particularly love the triangular piece bottom centre. I am thinking of making something with them in the future. Not sure what yet.

It's been a week of posts for me. I'd like to thank everyone who have commented or started to follow my blog. It is a constant happy in my life. How I ever thought I could junk it, I do not know. I have an evening to myself tomorrow. Sam, Alf and Marc are off to the flicks. I aim to catch up on your posts, and visit those of you that have commented here this week.

Have a wonderful weekend, burnt sausages and all!

Leanne xx

  1. So lovely to read your happies Leanne!! I am sure that your garden work will be really good, it looks like a lovely garden to work in and being a courtyard will be lovely and sheltered won't it. Could you make your little blue and white triangle into a necklace pendant of some sort? The pieces are lovely regardless of what you decide to do or not do with them! Happy weekend. xx

  3. I do envy you your rock-pooling, it's one of my all time favourite things to do. How exciting to be paid to tend a garden! I'm sure you'll learn a lot and have a fantastic time doing it and the results will be lovely. Having hands in the earth and growing things is one of the best ways to combat the blues, I always think. x

  4. Leanne it was not long ago you were considering whether to but a wetsuit and take up surfing.... And there amongst your lovely photos are the words confirming it as a reality. Brilliant . Love the sea glas and pottery. Just beautiful..... I am glad that book has been a good read for you as digging that garden will be. My friend believes that her depression got better as a direct result of her getting a garden. All her negativity and angst got buried xxx

  5. Hi Leanne. Wow, a big garden for you to look after! That is so exiting. I hope you'll share some of this new experience with us. I wonder if I could plonk fishcakes on the BBQ? It is great weather here, too. I love your pottery shards and I am hoping to find some when we are on holiday in July. Enjoy your weekend. Christina xx

  10. Sorry to have missed your week of posts, defeated by technology. Or lack of it. I will go back and catch up. The turquoise sea makes up for it though..

  13. I've wanted to be close to the sea all this week so I'm very jealous of you. It sounds like it's been a great time and I'm glad the gardening is going well. Love those little treasures. Have a super weekend! x

  16. I love these kinds of posts! I totally understand the jeans thing. It's such an awkward time of the year for those of us with very white skin. If we keep the jeans on we'll never get tan, but oh my, the horror of those first couple of weeks wearing shorts.

  17. HI Leanne, I'm catching up with blog reading after being away on holiday all last week. I loved the photo of your blue and white china pieces. I did a similar thing and started to do a mosaic with them for the garden which sadly I never finished and ended up binning it!

  18. Excellent stuff! I love these peeks into your life. I am really taken with your idea of collecting the broken pottery. You could make a mosaic tile from it all or something. Great shot of you on the beach (I have those very same havaianas) even if I am totally jealous of your beachy life. ;-)

Brilliant about the gardening job - obviously you are going to be amazing! x

  20. Lovely happy things Leanne! The pottery pieces are beautiful! I never find any pottery on the beach - and I'm always on the look out for it! Do you find much sea glass your way too? I find lots on some beaches here and none on others - funny that! Can I pin this to my collections board - with credit of course? xx
