Arm Held To Forehead

There are days when I don't want to do any more playing, designing train tracks, marble running, crafting, baking, rough and tumbling, Bionicle movie watching, endless pear peeling and making trains from bloody egg boxes!!! I'm trying to do the chores; endless washing and ironing. Clearing out Monica cupboards and stripping and making beds. Preparing tea. Picking when I should be following my new eating plan.

It's been raining incessantly today. The kind of rain that makes me miserable. Seeping rain. Not fun splash in puddles rain. So we haven't gone out. And to be honest I'm knackered. This anaemia. It's not life threatening. I'm not ill as such. The tablets make me feel like I'm in the first trimester of pregnancy - nauseous all the time. I climb a flight of stairs and have to pause for breath. I feel faint and fluttery.

I think I'm a day late with Black Monday.

  1. Hugs to you Leanne...

I hope the incessant rain stops and the sun comes out soon. January is a month that can be a challenge to get through.

  2. I know just how you feel. I'm still home with sickness in the house. I'm beginning to feel a little rundown myself. It's a hard time of year and you're not feeling well. I understand why you're having a rough time. I hope things look up soon, that the rain at least stops for awhile. Hugs to you.

  5. Sending hugs! Hope the rain settles and you get sunshine inside as well as out. I've just started iron medicine and it's making me feel a little bit weird! Ugh! x

  6. Ah hope you are taking the iron tablets along with a glass of fresh orange juice to help absorb the iron.Anaemia is awful, I remember having it at various times in my adult life and all I can say is thank goodness for the menopause!!!!

  7. Hope you feel better and brighter soon Leanne. I had anaemia after having Tom and it wasn't a nice feeling. We too have had rain today and it's still raining now, I hope it stops soon I much prefer cold crisp days to wet soggy ones! By the way the junk box models look fab! X

  8. Anaemia is such a debilitating issue, and much under-rated as it is horrible feeling like your own shadow. Do you recall the adverts for Complan a number of years ago that had the deflating little lady? I think that image was the best description I've seen for this. Hoping you rest and let the medication work it's slow, slow magic.

  10. Hi Leanne
I am not surprised you feel down and tired: anaemia, January and rain all at once. I hope your medication will soon show an effect. There is only so many versions of cornflakes box monsters you can make.... Hopefully tomorrow will be brighter, or maybe the rain feels more like the jumping-in-puddles-with-joy-kind-of-rain. Keeping my fingers crossed. Cx

  11. Have you tried stout. I had anaemia after I had my son and my dear father in law arrived with a case of black stout. Full of iron apparently! All I can remember was feeling so totally out of everything.... Perhaps the stout made it worse! I hope your levels pick up soon and the sun helps to give every part of your life a lift.
    I hope so. X x x

  12. Okay, ditch the tablets ... you need SpaTone ... it is iron rich water that comes out of the ground just a few miles from here in North Wales and is a properly approved product available from Boots and has far more bio available iron than any prescribed medication. The box says 1 to 2 sachets a day but you can in fact take 3 if not pregnant - this is info that came to me straight from their inhouse people. Twice now that stuff has saved me from needing a transfusion my anemia was so bad and my GP now recommends it to all her anemic patients. Seriously, it's a genuine product but because it isn't something GPs have permission to prescribe you have to be in on the secret. And now you are x

And here's hoping you have some sunshine today.

Hugs from one who knows x

    1. I meant to add ... because of the method of delivery of the iron with SpaTone you don't get the side effects you get with the tablets :)

  13. Eugh, no one wants to feel like they're in the first trimester of pregnancy! Grim. Really hope you beat this anaemia - I was very interested to read Annie's advice. Yes, those child- centred days can be draining... Take care lovely. Xx
