St Ives At Night

Every Friday I take Alfie to his judo class. It's held in The Island Centre in the middle of St Ives. Tonight I went for a wander about and took some pictures. Just playing around with the camera. It's all very well using the zoom and all the fancy buttons, and I thought it would make a change from plants and children. I've zoomed in on some of the pictures, and I've used a PicMonkey effect a couple of times (you can probably spot which ones). Do you use it? I mainly use it for collages and stuff. But I'm not adverse to using a facility that will heighten what is already there.

It just made a change, you know. I don't often see St Ives after dark. It's a different town. A bit spooky in places with all those winding passageways and dark streets. It's quiet at this time of year too. No crowds of holiday makers thronging the streets.

Thank you so much for all your kind words and comments this week. And can I just say a huge thank you to Jennifer. I received the most wonderful parcel of goodies from her yesterday. It made me quite emotional to hold what had been held.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

  1. Lovely. I do like night time photos of towns and windows and things. I like St Ives more and more when I see your images. Oh to live by the sea... It must be wonderful in winter when there aren't any holiday makers. So glad Jennifer's lovely things have gone to a good home where they will be fully appreciated! Hope you have a really good weekend Leanne, The sun is shining here, and no doubt with you too, so we're off to a good start. It's time for me to go and dig out football boots...

  3. I have tried to do things on picmonkey but without much success yet. I must really sit down and try because I would like to do a collage again for my blog header.

  4. Lovely pictures! Other peoples houses always look intriguing in the evenings, very cosy looking, if you know what I mean.

  6. I used to love walking around at night, taking the dog for a walk or just getting out and roaming the streets, especially in the village we previous lived in. I must say I miss it, the old Victorian cottages with smoke puffing spilling out and the cosy lights and shadows dancing over the pavement. I loved peaking a little closer to see how people live and conjure up stories that would make my imagination run wild. You have captured so many beautiful things, I love each and everyone of these photos. Thank you for always giving me a little of what I miss so much, I am truly grateful! xoxo

  8. You've made me think that I don't take any photos at night really. Back in November we walked through our local town to a fireworks display and Angus was so enchanted by the darkness and the familiar being unfamiliar. My city kids don't really walk anywhere in the dark! It made me look at it anew through their eyes.

I love your shot of the lit lamp in the window. I like picmonkey - I mainly use it to correct a wonky horizon! x
