Thursdays

Thursdays are a deliberately quiet affair here. Quite simply it is Olly's tired day. He has two sessions of nursery under his belt, and other Olly and Mummy adventuring. He can wake up grumpy on Thursdays, so I try and keep the day as low key as possible. It's also an attempt to try and keep him awake for the whole day. Olly doesn't tend to nap, and if he does he isn't tired at night. I wouldn't mind any other night, but as Marc is home this evening, I have a my own selfish reasons for Olly being in the land of nod.

The plan today was to go to the library for story and craft time, but the sudden heavy downpour put paid to walking into town. So we have had a sofa day. This morning we watched 'Peter Pan.' Olly hadn't seen the film before. He loved it, especially the tick tocking Crocodile. We snuggled together, and the morning passed in a gentle manner.

Junk modelling was on the agenda this afternoon. Olly made a boat with minimal assistance from me. I was glue monitor, and chief cutter of cardboard tube. We sat opposite each other at the dining room table, both of us absorbed - Olly with his boat. Me with Olly.

He still fell asleep......

I tried to rouse him earlier. No chance. I'm leaving him. He needs the sleep, and to be honest I need to be far more relaxed about these things.

  1. He is so cute, Leanne. You know, Thursday is a "down" day in my house too. My son goes to school but my daughter is home and has also been to school two mornings already in the week. This morning, we took him to school then came home and hung around doing quiet things. I made beds and put away dishes and she played with her dolls, then we laid on the couch together and watched TV. Now she's still watching Sesame Street and I'm reading some blogs. We have to get him in about 45 minutes. I love our Thursday mornings, though. She will have a nap later on and I know she'll need it even though we've done so little thus far today. I love that we have such similar Thursdays. :)

  3. Lovely. I remember trying to keep my littlest awake so that he was actually tired at bedtime. If he had even fifteen minutes nap it was always enough to keep him going until 10pm. Tonight he was so tired and sad about his new room that he sobbed himself to sleep again. I can hardly stand it. I love the day you and Olly had together. These are the moments you will remember I think.

  7. What a lovely way to spend a Thursday. I love days where you just do as little as possible and relax. Sadly these days, with both in school they are few and far between and I really miss them. Thursdays seems to be my busiest day as little Es has ballet after school, but I'm not so sure whether we will carry on. I'm not big on after school activities and it is the only one we do but for now I'm not sure whether it is sensible with all the pressures with starting school. I love the pic of oldie sleeping, ironically I also took some of mine not wanting to get out of bed this week as they looked so blissfully happy being cosied up in bed. Love his boat and it looks like he had fun making it. Hope you have an equally relaxing Friday and a lovely weekend xoxo

  8. He's a gorgeous little boy Leanne. Kids dont need expensive toys to make them happy do they? My granddaughter who is nearly 3 has spent all day making things with playdough.

  9. Oh, bless him! I'm always struck by how young they look when they're asleep. When Angus dropped his nap he used to fall asleep in the car all the time, sometimes within seconds of being buckled in. Lately he drops off on the sofa after school and is often grumpy. He could use a quiet thursday! xx
