Not Grim At All

Hello to you all! All well I hope? I'm currently trying to catch up on my blog reading, but in the meantime would like to thank you all for your lovely comments on recent posts. It's very comforting to know that I'm not alone in checking out the neighbours at night!

.........................

So this weekend I went all the way to Newcastle to visit good friends. On my own. Without children. Or a camera. These are friends from my halcyon days at Leeds University - Nina, Peter and Claire. With their gorgeous other halves - Stephen, Alejandro and Clifford. And lovely children - Alexander, Matty and Cecilia.

Living so far west, I don't often get the chance to see old friends. I had double booked; there was another reunion in Bristol. Old school friends Gayle, Claire and Vicki. Honestly weekends away are like buses etc...

I laughed. Oh my goodness I laughed. Loads. I drank. I ate Chinese food. I snuggled up with the most gorgeous half Geordie/half Norwegian baby that will ever be. I smoked crafty fags in the garden. I glimpsed the Metro Centre, and had a swell time at Beamish. I was persuaded to have my photograph taken cupping a heaving bosom.....

Today I have felt rather tired and teasy. I think it's a combination of post mini break fatigue and excessive laundry. It's only when I say goodbye that I realise how much I miss them.

It was great to see them all so happy.

Leanne xx

  4. It sounds just perfect. What joy to get away to spend some time with friends and to somehow reconnect with the person that once was there before you got the title of wife and mother. I think it is so good for the soul. Pleased that you enjoyed lovely. Wishing you a lovely week xoxo

  5. That sounds like a lot of fun. How lovely that you are still in touch with each other. I've drifted away from most of my uni friends...but I do like to have the odd Facebook nosey just to see what they're up to. X

  6. You're not the only one behind with your blog reading ... I've just been catching up here.

I love peeking in at other folks when I'm out walking in the village after dusk. I love walking in the rain too, although I'm lamenting the fact that our blackberries still aren't ripe in this corner of North Wales.

Looks like a fabulous weekend. I'm not surprised that you're suffering from a spot of post break blues.

  8. Glad you had such a wonderful time. Everyone needs a break from time to time I think. Hope that laundry doesn't get the better of you and that you have a good week.

  9. I'm not surprised you're shattered, but what a fab way to spend your weekend. Catching up with old friends is something that brings so much pleasure but is often the last thing we prioritise isn't it? I too am catching up on blog reading - time just flies by!
