52 Weeks Of Happy - 34/52

Hello there. How are we all today? And hello to new followers. How lovely to hear from you!

I admit to world weariness. I may have hit a Mum wall. So we have stayed at home, even though I could/should have taken them to the beach. The boys have chilled and played while I have read and baked. Sometimes you just need to kick off you flip flops and admit that today is not Wonder Woman day. No housework, no picking and carrying and fetching. Possibly a little ironing....

As you can see, my blog is still under construction. I shall be playing with a scanner this week, and fiddling with buttons and headings and stuff. Your comments on my recent post about my blog name really got me thinking. So thank you for that. It was also interesting to read how you came up with the names of your blogs.

I am out this evening with the book group ladies. We are going to The Halsetown Inn, which is just outside town. The food is supposed to be fabulous, so that, the wine and the company of lots of female people is making me feel quite giddy.

Some happiness from my week. Joining in with Jen.

Rosie Posie

Shortly before I found out that I was expecting Olly, my sister in law's dog had puppies. I fell in love with one of them, and she came to live with us. She was a beautiful chubby little thing, who would constantly chew our sandals (Alf's Crocs a particular favourite) and run around the garden with Honey. However I made the difficult decision that I could not keep her. A dog, a puppy and a new born. It just felt too much to deal with. The boys have never really forgiven me for it.

Guess who we bumped into yesterday? Four years later, the boys got closure. They met Rosie again. She was obviously happy, and the boys gave her a fuss and a cuddle. I was really happy to see her too, because I've always felt guilty for giving her up. Of course, now I am puppy broody.......

Discounts, Sales & Freebies

Ok I admit it. I love Boden clothes for Olly, as I did for both my boys when they were little. They are bright and colourful. They are good quality and last for ages. They are hard wearing. They are expensive. And there lies the rub. I covet their clothes, but cannot justify the price. But they do fantastic sales, and good discounts from time to time. So I have bought Olly three long sleeved T's for the price of one. This makes me happy. It may make me a sucker for a bit of marketing, but I can live with that!

Nature Trail

This could probably be a post all of it's own. Hayle Towans as well as being a popular dog walking haunt, is also a nature reserve. Yesterday me and the boys sat down by one of the dunes, and realised we were sat plum in the middle of a riot of nature. Caterpillars, Moths, Butterflies, Grasshoppers, Bees, Birds and other creepy crawlies were everywhere. We could see them, hear them and feel them. It was lovely to watch the boys get so excited. Although I think I was most excited of all. Long after the boys started wrestling in the dunes, I was still in nature nerd heaven.

Giveaway

The other week I entered Polly from A Nice Kind Of Blue's giveaway. A chance to win some goodies from Sarah Raven, one of my gardening heroines. I was so chuffed to have my name pulled from the hat, and this week a bundle of loveliness was delivered to my home. Seeds = happy. Coloured waxed paper= happy. Cheers Polly!!

So there you have it. Lots of happiness.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Leanne xx

  1. All lovely happies. How nice to run into the dog again! We had a dog until last year at this time when we had to say goodbye to him because he was old and sick. I always thought I'd want another right away but it's been a year...and I don't. I'm happy to be pet-free. Still looking at the chickens though... Congrats on winning the giveaway!

  2. A great post Leanne. I love that sometimes you have to admit you're not Wonder Woman. I have so many days like that! In fact I've just had four really long days out in a row, so I'm really due some non-Wonder Woman time. Hope you are having a lovely evening out with your friends.

  3. There's nothing wrong with a spot of chillin' at home, not every day can be a beach day!

Always sad when you have to move a dog on, however necessary it is. but if you really are thinking of getting another and want a dog that truly suits a young family, and you can cope with wild puppy antics, get a whippet ... honestly, best thing I ever did, as my four 'kids' will tell you. Just don't make the same mistake I did and end up with more whippets than children. Oops ;)

  4. I have days like that regularly. I had a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel growing up - totally adorable little lap dogs but I'm now a Whippet convert and recommend them to everyone - that's 2 recommendations in a row Leanne (hint hint!). Hope you had a great night out with the girls :-) Mel x

  5. I like a quiet day at home and I think the kids do too sometimes. I agree, Boden's children's clothes are good stuff, they last forever. And like you I only ever buy them when they send me a discount code in the post! xx
