Oh I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside..

Oh I Do Like To Be Beside The Sea!

Oh I Do Like To Stroll Along The Prom, Prom, Prom,

Where The Brass Band Plays

Tiddly Om, Pom, Pom!

Saturday mornings see us on the beach by 9am, for Alfie's surf lessonsSt Ives Surf School, takes children of all ages and abilities out into the surf teaching them to catch the waves, and ride them into shore. It is a simply lovely way to start the weekend. Olly is too young for lessons, but he joins Little Nippers after Christmas, and he will taste the thrill of catching the waves next summer.

.

Marc and I buy take away coffee. Sometimes a bacon roll or a flap jack. We watch Alfie grow in confidence on the water, with the help of some really cool surfing teachers, who share their wisdom and love of the sea. Not to be outdone, Olly has inherited Alfie's first shortie suit and runs in and out of the waves too. He likes to stand on any of the boards at the waters edge, and pretends to ride the waves like his big brother.

Everyone is happy - kids, Mums, Dads, teachers - it is laid back fun.

One day I will get over myself (like my friend Naomi did this weekend. Bravo you), don a wetsuit and jump on a board too. If it feels as exhilarating as it looks, there will be no stopping me!

Should you and yours be thinking of a holiday somewhere in the UK, and should there happen to be a surf school go and book your children in. They will love it.

More weekend stuff will follow after walks, to do lists done, cleaning cleaned and gym gymed.

  5. I wish I could persuade my son to have a go, but he is the kind of boy that likes his home comforts...probably takes after me.

  7. That just sounds like such a fun way to start the weekend, especially in the sun. I love the idea of sitting on the beach with a bacon roll and a coffee...I'll leave the surfing bit though! x
