A Farewell

So this morning, Tony the baby seagull was taken to the RSPCA. He will be OK. He is a survivor. He fell off a roof. He landed in a chicken run. He was orphaned. He was scooped up rather hastily. He was thrusted into the arms of an eleven year old. He was bundled inside a towel. He was dumped in a cardboard box. He was fed cat food. He was poked and prodded a bit. He was the victim of severe toddler jealousy. He was held when my back was turned. He spent the night alone.

If he can survive that, he can survive anything I reckon.

We wish him well.

A Super Moon

It really was super too. We had clear skies in St Ives last night, and Sam and I watched the moon rise up into the sky. It was quite beautiful. I have seen some amazing pictures on line today. This was my attempt to capture it from the front garden. I couldn't get any detail, so here is a shimmering ball.


A Walk With A Nature Nerd

I have taken to walking Honey over The Towans in Hayle. The plant and animal life over there is wonderful. I've yet to spy an adder, but they've been seen. (I've only seen an adder once, and would have missed it were it not for Alfie's eagle eye). Today there were Cinnabar Moths in abundance. And Pond Skaters, my favourite as a child. I had to work for my art today - the pond was in a boggy patch and I squelched home. It's not a great picture, they can really move!

I have developed an obsession with taking photos of grass. Samuel was quite bemused by the amount of times I stopped at "another bit of green" and start clicking away. I am enthralled by their shape, the way they move and their different structures and designs. I didn't mind. Me and Sam poke fun at each other all the time. It's a family thing.
It was just lovely to spend some time with him. Just me and him We walked and talked about all sorts of things. He told me about his future plans. So strange to think in just a couple of years time, he will be off on solo adventures. I treated him to a trip to Lidl too. He was thrilled!

Some of you have asked about the pros and cons of keeping chickens. I shall write my thoughts and share my experiences later this week. I'm also going to write a weekly garden journal (she said nervously). I'd like to share some of the stuff I've learnt through my trial and error gardening. I hope you don't mind my indulgence. I love reading all of your craft tutorials, even though I am definitely not a crafter. I think it's the fingers. They're like sausages! I hope that you'll enjoy my tutorials too......
