52 Weeks Of Happy - 15/52

It's been a bit hectic this week. It's like that sometimes. My lovely sister in law pointed out to me yesterday, that I seem to spend a lot of my time reeling off stuff that I need to get done, wish I could get done and should get done.

"Slow down," she said "Just focus on what does get done, rather than what doesn't."

She's right of course.

I have so many plans and goals and ideas going around my little mind.

Too many....

So joining in with Jen and Gillian, some simple happy things from this week.

Photographs

I was driving home from the garden centre (four bags of multi-purpose compost and a Gooseberry bush), and I noticed a freshly ploughed field. I stopped the car and took this photo. I do this a lot nowadays! However, I was really pleased with this photo. I can't say why, but every now and then one of my snaps stands out from the rest. Anyway taking photos makes me happy.

Derelict Pump House

These are scattered all over West Cornwall, once a huge exporter of tin. This one is in Trink. I think that they are a beautiful piece of architecture, and I'm always  struck by how they nestle into the landscape so comfortably. I particularly like this one. It's slowly being reclaimed by Mother Nature, and looks all the more beautiful for it.

Fudge Shop

As well as surf shops, there are plenty of these in St Ives. I was walking past the other day, and there were some older ladies coming out with their bags of fudge clasped tightly in their hands. They looked very happy. I guess sweets take us back to our childhood in some way. Seeing them peering into each others bags, made me smile.

Signage

I don't normally go in for these 'Keep Calm & Carry On' type signs for the house. But I quite liked the sentiment of this one. I took a photo, and will keep it on my phone. You know, just to remind myself.

Can I sneak one more in?

I'm off tonight to see Sam play Tweedle Dee in his school play, Alice In Wonderland. I am beyond excited, not least because until late last night I wasn't going to be able to go. I know that he was really disappointed that I couldn't go, and I was feeling as guilty as anything for not being able to. Marc is leaving work in Gloucester early, and we are swapping cars and children in Penzance. Drama is a big deal for Sam. He is a shy child, and drama has given him confidence in buckets.

And that is the happy!!

Take care

Leanne xx

  1. I like this idea, and I think your sister-in-law has good advice, though I know this is easier said than done. Good luck to Sam in his play!
