Lists - 7/52

I've been thinking a lot today about age.

And experience.

And stuff I want to experience before my age gets in the way.

I'm not a very adventurous soul. I have never wanted to backpack unknown climes, and sleep in a hammock slung between two trees in a far off jungle or rain forest. I would much rather watch and marvel someone else do it on television.

I'm not an extreme sort of person. The idea of a bungee jump or throwing oneself out of a plane, makes me feel physically ill. I cannot comprehend why someone would want to. Why? Why?

I don't covet (apart from anyone with a flat stomach), so I have no desire for a flash car or a Highland castle.

But there are things that I would like to do and achieve while I am here. Not necessarily "big" things, you understand. And some of them might not strictly be experiences per se. But there are some things that I would like to be able to tell my grand children "I did that."

*See the Northern Lights, learn to ski, travel around Europe in Betty & write a children's book.
Yes, yes my writing is appalling.

  1. I have always wanted to see the Northern Lights. In fact as far as travel goes, it's those countries north of here - Iceland, Greenland, Finland, Scandinavia that I hanker to see. I have been to Oslo as couple of times, but nothing more. I'd love to see ice floes and whales and fjords. I'd love to stay in an ice hotel and be driven by huskies along snowy plains. I'd love to hear wolves calling each other through snowy woodland.

  2. Perhaps that's where the ski thing comes in.

  3. Travelling in Betty too. It's all part of Europe. Mostly. Isn't it?

  4. Aah the book. Well I love all those Scandinavian children's books. And books inspired by their myths and legends (I'm thinking of the Wolf Brother series of books by Michelle Paver. And Tolkien of course. Ursula Le Guinn too). I have an idea for one. We shall see.

I may update the bucket list from time to time.

If it's not too presumptuous - what would be on your list?

Leanne xx

Postscript.

Can I add to my list?

See Shakespeare performed at Stratford.
&
Have a second honeymoon (the first one was just awful).

  1. Seeing the northern lights would definitely be on my list, along with visiting Iceland. Maybe I could kill two birds with one stone?
