Staycation

I shall begin with a grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, as I have just lost today's post by accidentally deleting it. It reminds me of the beginning of Lake Wobegon Days by Garrison Keillor. He loses the manuscript for a novel on the train, and is haunted by it's loss. He has no other copy. He cannot replicate it. The lost novel takes on mythological status in his mind, as the best thing he ever wrote. The one that got away....

I was woken up this morning by Olly beaming at me from under the duvet. "Hiya Mama," he chirped. Aah yes, I thought. It was musical beds last night. From sofa to nursery floor to my bed. Then Olly disarmed me with a huge hug. I look up at the skylights and notice the ever present clouds that are dominating our summer holidays. Today I have decided that there is no such thing as bad weather. Just inappropriate clothing. We are going out!

Marc has two weeks annual leave coming up. So I have a plan. We will treat our home of St Ives, and indeed the whole of Cornwall, as if we were here on holiday. I have started to compile a list of places to visit, things to do and National Trust properties to explore. We are also going to Devon in Betty, our beloved Camper Van. I am excited about this for several reasons. We haven't been on a family holiday for a few years now, ever since Olly came along. I am looking forward to visiting the holidays destinations of my own childhood. I remember travelling down from Bristol in our own Camper van. I have happy memories of Devon, and it would be great to share them with the boys.

But I digress...

Some pictures of our day. Olly and I found a new walk. And we went to The Tate. Good times.

No photos allowed beyond this point..

Alfie came too

    1. I didn't know that!! We had our Honey with us too!! Your Honey came over to us in the end, and let us tickle her ears. She liked it. We didn't feed her. Would we be able to give her couple of carrots? They will be organic. x

It was a lovely place to have a leisurely walk, especially with a very busy two year old! x
