The Year In Books - July

My book choice for July.

I fell in love with my June reads, which were Gillespie and I, by Jane Harris and Flight Behaviour by Barbara Kingsolver. My goodness I became immersed in both books. Wonderful. I almost hate the authors for their talent. I am always left rather lacking.

If you love a good character, and a story that envelopes you and pulls you in. If you want to giggle at some clever prose and cry at poignant and sad stories, then these two novels will be right up your alley.

  1. I'm not familiar with that one, but round here we all love Moomins. Just back from crabbing. We caught some! I screamed a bit the first time but I'm calmer now. My job is attaching the bacon and getting the seaweed of the net at the end. I hope you have a good weekend Leanne. I'll be interested to see what you think of the Tove Jansson book. CJ xx

  4. Hi Leanne. I am quite well read but have to admit I have not read any of your choices. Yet. I am not a big fan of Barbara Kingsolver but love the Moomins, so might add The Listener to my ever growing virtual book pile. The Jane Harris book is a must for a Glasgwegian by choice! Also on my list. Phew, so much to read still.
P.S. If you email me (christinascolourfullife@gmail.com), I'll send you my mobile number in case you are free in two weeks time.

  5. I've not looked in at your blog before, I've been led to it via Gillian from Tales from a Happy House ... but I've found what you have to say interesting and love the photos, so no doubt will look in again from time to time. I'm a writer (I think I can say that but I don't want it to sound pretentious, as in "I'm an ac-torrrr!" but I do write for magazines and have an antiques column in a glossy title, which is fun to do.
I'm also an avid reader, books arrive faster than I have time to read them, but what's the point of having only books in the house that you've read?
