The Year In Books - April

I haven't finished my book choice for March. I haven't finished my book group book. I am a bad reader.

So I shall be continuing them into April.

I'll also be reading some favourite poetry.

Linking up with Laura.

Happy reading.

Leanne xx

  1. I am reading Jilly Cooper right now. That probably makes me a really bad reader, but I can't put it down, it's fantastic. x

  2. One of the reasons that I have not joined in with the year in books is that I am rubbish at finishing books of late and also that I would hate to admit what I actually do get round to reading, but if Gillian is reading Jilly Cooper!!! Hope that you get them finished sometime Leanne! xx

  3. I'll read just about anything, and I'm a fast reader, so when I run out of books, you'll find me reading the backs of boxes in the pantry, the bottle of toilet cleaner, the bread bag...

  6. Love love this Stevie Smith poem. Reckon we should read what we like when we like and stop worrying about it. Otherwise it's homework and not pleasure.

  8. I didn't really appreciate Ted Hughes when I studied his poetry at school. In fact when you study any literature at school sometimes the joy can be sucked out of it. Poetry is so easy to dip in and out of though. Have you read The Golden Gate - Vikram Seth. It's a (short!) book written in verse but very good. I have to say Jilly Cooper is completely engaging!!!!

  9. We're loving poetry here at the moment as well, especially John Betjeman's "Indoor Games Near Newbury". A little bit risque for the smaller people. The eldest has memorised parts of it which worries me slightly. Not sure he knows exactly what he's reading though. Or maybe he does, they do always know more than you think they know. If only we all had more time for reading, how wonderful it would be. Hope you're having a good week Leanne. CJ xx

  10. This has nothing to do with books, but yesterday I found a couple packages of wine gums hidden away in a place I had forgotten about. It has been a rather stressful few days and I promptly ate both packages. I'm not even sure I gave myself time to taste them. Then I remembered your post from a couple weeks ago where you said you had been consuming quantities of wine gums and felt like I had a kindred spirit. :-)

  15. Sometimes it's so hard to find the time to sit down and read a whole book, which I guess is why poetry can give a nice literary quick-fix.
