The Year In Books - February

My book for February.

Reading has become a pleasure again, thanks to my new glasses. I don't usually choose books on the basis of their awards, but Margaret Atwood (guru goddess) has sung it's praises. And who am I to argue with that?

I have posted a review of sorts about my January read over on Goodreads. If you are already a member, please link up with me. I'm always on the look out for a good book recommendation.

My own book group read this month is 'The Immortal Life Of Henrietta Lacks. I am looking forward to this one.

Joining in with Laura

Leanne xx

  1. I've never read any Alice Munro but I know I should, I think she'd be my cup of tea. John is reading The Goldfinch on his kindle and he tells me it's very good. I am mainly reading magazines and crime fiction but it keeps me happy! x

  2. I enjoy Alice Munro but have not read that one yet. Henrietta Lacks is AWESOME. Love that book. I have a copy right here, actually. I've been meaning to read it again.

  3. Alice Munroe is one of my favourite authors. I love how much she packs as much into a short story as many another writer puts in a novel, how she draws the characters of ordinary people, particularly women.
Was delighted when she won the Nobel Prize as it was so richly deserved.
Also glad to have discovered your blog - will be back.

  4. Hi Leanne, I'm doing the Year in Books too. I read The Immortal Life...last year. Henrietta Lacks was originally from Roanoke, Virginia, which is very close to where I live. Hope you enjoy the book and looking forward to reading what you think of it!

  5. I haven't read anything by this author, but I hope that you love it! xx

  6. I have recently read "too much happiness" for my book group. I can't make my mind up if I liked the book or not, I was really put off by the first story but enjoyed others. I haven't read the Henrietta Lacks book but was always amazed by her story (I know her cells from being a former lab rat). Did you know that her genome was published recently but retracted again due to privacy issues? I will definitely read this book, right up my street. Going over to your Good reads page now. Cx

  7. Oh yes, I like Alice Munro and this looks like a good one. x
