Lists - 10/52

Hello one and all. How are we all feeling today? I for one have had a headache most of today. I suspect it's down to sugar withdrawal. That's okay. It's quite a good feeling. That I'm taking control of myself and my body. Thank you for all your supportive and encouraging words. They have strengthened my resolve to really go for it. Tomorrow I dust off my trainers......

I thought I'd share with you some of Olly's favourite books at the moment. He is in a phase of transition with the books he chooses us to read to him at bedtime. Yes there are still the simpler, more repetitive stories, various counting, shape and colour themed books and books that are based on children's programmes. But lately I have noticed that he is seeking out more complex stories, and books with lots of detail in the illustrations, rather than just bright colours and simplistic pictures.

I have always read to my children as part of their bed-time routine. I was quite sad when Sam and Alfie left that part of their childhood behind. I kept all of their children's books. Most of them were so beautifully written and illustrated. I couldn't bear to part with them. Thank goodness for that, because they are getting a new lease of life.

So, joining in with Pip at Meet Me At Mikes, my weekly list.

A Few Of The Stories Mummy & Daddy have been reading to Olly at bed-time

  1. Dogger  - Shirley Hughes
  2. The Cat In The Hat - Dr Suess
  3. How To Catch A Star - Oliver Jeffers
  4. Olly & Me - Shirley Hughes
  5. Pumpkin Soup - Helen Cooper
  6. Stick Man - Julia Donaldson

These books have great stories and superb illustrations. They are timeless.

What stories do/did your children enjoy at bedtime? I'd love to know. I'm always on the look out for another one to add to the collection

    1. There are a number of children's books that I have bought, and kept on my bookcase. It's not that I don't want to share them with my grubby fingered boy but...!

  3. 'The Tiger who came to tea' was a favourite with both of my children. In fact, I bought a new hard covered version a couple of years ago as the original is rather tatty though still preserved!Hilary xx

  4. I love Shirley Hughes' books; I had only read one as a child (George the Babysitter), but it was one of my favorite books. Now I have read the Alfie and Annie Rose books with my children.

  5. My two are currently obsessed with Dogger. I remember loving it as a child. Bella in particular likes it as Dave's sister is called Bella too. x
